Chain Extenders for Plastic Compounds

REGRANYL 90 by Greenchemicals acts as a regrind and re-polymerization agent, through the extrusion process of polyamides. It also acts as a chain extender.

• Offers homogeneous rheological behavior without pulsation.
• It has its effect on both virgin and recycled polyamide.
• It increases the mechanical properties of virgin polyamide.
• When 0.5% of REGRANYL 90 is added, it shows increased viscosity of PA6 and PA66 whereas the viscosity variation is much higher in PA12.

REGRATEX MB-D by Greenchemicals is an intrinsic viscosity enhancer, chain extender, regrader and re-polymerizating agent, through the extrusion process. It also acts as a processing aid.

• It increases the viscosity of polymers, improves the mechanical properties and increases the pressure on the extruder die when compounded into polyesters.
• It is suitable for PET transparent such as bottles, films, sheets and straps.
• Recommended dosage level of REGRATEX MB-D is 0.1 to 1%.

BRUGGOLEN® M1251 by Brüggemann is a highly reactive chain extender based on modified polyamide. It provides increased melt viscosity, improved impact strength and increased elongation at break in glass reinforced polyamides. It offers regeneration and transformation of polyamide fiber waste to higher quality extrusion grades, applicable for common technical parts at much lower price levels. It possess no influence on the homogeneity of the polyamide melt and no formation of gel structures. It is suitable for processing by injection molding and compounding on twin screw extrusion machines. The dosage level of the grade is 0.5-2.0%, depending on the basic polyamide and the desired properties of the finished parts. The shelf life of BRUGGOLEN® M1251 is 12 months under (sealed, dry, 25°C) conditions.

Fine-Blend® SAG-008 distributed by DKSH is a polymer chain extender. It is a random styrene-acrylonitrile-glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer with colorless bead appearance.

• It can provide superior chain extender solutions for recycled nylon, polyester, polycarbonate and other already biodegradable polycondensated resin.
• It maximizes the quality of the recycled polycondensated resin, improve the mechanical, thermal and processing properties.
• It can be processed over a wide range of conditions.
• Fine-Blend® SAG-008 is available in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.

BIO-MASTER™ SG-20 distributed by DKSH is a chain extender and coupling agent for biopolymers such as PLA, PBAT, PBS, PHA and PET. It is a functional copolymer with ultra-high epoxy content with a particle-like appearance.

• It maximizes the quality of the bio-degradable resins and improves mechanical-, thermal-, & processing properties.
• BIO-MASTER™ SG-20 is available in India, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Vietnam.

SILMALINK AZ2311 by Silma is a powerful chain extender and branching agent for rigid or foamed PET, PBT compounds and profiles extrusion. This masterbatch increases mechanical properties of the recycled PET bottle and virgin grade. It is able to rebuild the PET chain in a linear sense to give it a new life and the same or better mechanical properties of the virgin one. It imparts a better crystalline rate and it can be recycled. The recommended dosage level is 1.5-3% on PET foam or rigid profiles. SILMALINK AZ2311 has a shelf life of one year.

BRUGGOLEN® M1253 by Brüggemann acts as a modifier. It is a highly reactive chain extender based on modified polyamide. It imparts increased melt viscosity, improved impact strength and increased elongation at break in glass reinforced polyamides.

• The polyamide molecular weight can be increased permanently with it.
• It offers regeneration and transformation of polyamide fiber waste to higher quality extrusion grades, applicable for common technical parts at much lower price levels.
• It possess no influence on the homogeneity of the polyamide melt and no formation of gel structures.
• It is suitable for processing by injection molding.
• The dosage level of the grade is 0.3-0.5% in fiber spinning processes and 0.5 to 1.5% in compounding or extrusion processes, depending on the basic polyamide and the desired properties of the finished parts.
• BRUGGOLEN® M1253 has a shelf life of 12 months under (sealed, dry, 25°C) conditions.

BIO-MASTER™ HPC-5020 distributed by DKSH is a chain extender and coupling agent for biopolymers PLA/PBAT/PHA and PET.

• It is a functional copolymer with ultra-high epoxy content with a particle-like appearance.
• It can be used as compatibilizer for PLA/PBAT alloy, starch filled PLA and PBAT/PLA composites to improve its comprehensive performances.
• It is suitable for biodegradable resins.
• It is available in Europe region (India, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Thailand).

XIBOND™ 370 by aurorium is a styrene, maleic anhydride and N-Phenylmaleimide random terpolymer. Acts as a compatibilizer, coupling agent, adhesion promoter, viscosity modifier and chain extender. Chain extender connects polymer chains together to raise the molecular weight, melt strength, processability, flow properties and thickness. As a coupling agent, it provides low viscosity, improved creep and tensile properties. Surface modifier changes the polarity of a product leading to a different surface tension of the polymer matrix and modifying the adhesion properties of the polymer. Compatibilizer optimizes the interfacial tension and morphology against high stresses. It is designed to improve the blend morphology of specific polymer blends. XIBOND™ 370 can be processed using extrusion in all types of regular polymer processing equipment. It is compatible with high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) resins. It is recommended to use twin screw extruders with a mild screw configuration and vacuum degassing facility for good dispersion in styrenic polymer. Recommended dosage level is 1-5 %.

XIBOND™ 250 by aurorium is a styrene and maleic anhydride random copolymer-based viscosity modifier, surface modifier, compatibilizer, adhesion promoter, extender and coupling agent. Compatibilizer optimizes the interfacial tension and morphology against high stresses.

• The viscosity modification lowers the molding temperature and provides a better surface appearance.
• Chain extender connects polymer chains together to raise the molecular weight, melt strength, processability, flow properties and thickness.
• Surface modifier changes the polarity of a product leading to a different surface tension of the polymer matrix and modifies the adhesion properties of the polymer.
