It is produced in aqueous dispersion by polycondensation of bis-(2-chloro-ethyl)-formal with alkali polysulphide. Soluble in benzene, toluene, dichloroethane, chloroform & plasticizers such as phthalates and chlorinated paraffins. It is partially soluble in aliphatic esters and ketones. It is insoluble in water, aliphatic hydrocarbons and alcohols. It is formulated as one or two component systems containing part A, the thioplast polymer and part B, the curing agent. Designed for use as a rubber modifier and in molding compounds. Thioplast® G22 is recommended for construction applications.
