Mowital® B 45 H by Kuraray is a free-flowing polyvinyl butyral (PVB) grade. It exhibits low viscosity, heat-seals above 120°C, good adhesion to glass & metals, toughness and elasticity influenced by molecular weight. Provides properties like solubility, light and water resistance in non-polar solvents which depend upon the degree of acetalization. It has the ability to bond to metal, ceramics and other inorganic materials. It shows optical clarity in film form, and low environmental impact as a polymer made from carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. It is soluble in many organic solvents and alcohol. It is compatible with plasticizers, phenolic, epoxide, melamine resins and other resins/plastics, depending on composition. It can be cross-linked with phenol resins, epoxy resins and isocyanate through the hydroxyl group. In Mowital® B 45 H, melt-molding is possible due to thermoplastic processing. It has a shelf life of 12 months.
