VECTRA® A230D-3 BLACK by Celanese is a black colored, halogen-free, highly crystalline, thermotropic, self-reinforcing, electrically conductive, non-flammable, inherently flame retardant liquid crystal polymer (LCP) grade reinforced with 30% carbon. It forms a carbon char layer, retarding the development of flammable gases, under high flame temperature. Exhibits scratch-, abrasion-, excellent creep- and corrosion- resistance, outstanding rigidity, stiffness, very low heat fusion, excellent mechanical properties, toughness & strength, excellent property retention at cryogenic temperatures and offers time & money savings as well as longer pan life. Has low moisture absorption, very low coefficient of thermal expansion, low smoke generation, excellent dielectric properties, withstands gamma ray sterilization inertness, non-toxicity and bio-inactivity. It creates thin-walled complex components that demand dimensional stability, chemical resistance, solvent resistance and good tensile & impact strength. Also exhibits easy flow, little or no shrinkage in the flow direction, excellent flex/fold characteristics, good vibration damping characteristics & shock absorbency and requires very little time to set-up or solidify. Is suitable for processing by injection molding. Potential applications include aerospace & defence, building & construction, consumer goods and oil, gas & mining. Also used in automotive & transportation, electrical as well as electronics, energy, industrial and textiles, fibers & filtration.
