Styropor® KP203 by BASF is a general purpose, expandable polystyrene (EPS) grade which contains pentane as a blowing agent. Exhibits low weight, good shock absorption, good thermal conductivity and narrow apparent density distribution. Offers excellent thermal insulation capacity, high compressive strength, outstanding impact absorption and moisture resistance. Designed for processing by pre-expansion, intermediate storage and expansion stages. During the pre-expansion stage, the compact raw material is transformed into closed-cell foam which is characterized by low energy consumption and short cycle times. After an appropriate intermediate storage time, EPS is expanded in conventional block molds to make foams. Styropor® KP203 is recommended for construction, insulating materials, packaging and consumer applications.
