Glucono Delta Lactone (GDL)

Supplied byThe Herbarie- Last Updated on May 16, 2019

Glucono Delta Lactone. Glucono Delta Lactone (GDL) by The Herbarie acts as a gentle acidifier and chelating agent. It is naturally-derived and is characterized as a carbohydrate. Due to its slow hydrolysis to gluconic acid, it provides a gradual, progressive and continuous decrease of pH to equilibrium. Hence, it prevents microbial growth and functions as a part of an effective preservative system. In addition, the multiple hydroxyl groups on the GDL molecule can attract water and perhaps limit water activity. Moreover, it provides moisturizing effect. It can be combined with leucidal liquid, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, optiphen and optiphen ND. Glucono Delta Lactone (GDL) finds application in formulating skin care serums, creams, lotions, facial toners and hair care formulas.
