Hydrolyzed Lupine Protein. Actimp 1.9.3® by Laboratoires Expanscience acts as an inhibitor of MMP such as collagenase and gelatinase. Recent experimental finding have stressed the role of certain MMP (Matrix Metalloproteinases) in the breakdown of proteins in the extracellular matrix exposed to low or high dose solar irradiation or to inflammation. An excess of these enzymes (collagenase, gelatinase, stromelysine) upsets the balance between destruction and replacement of collagens, elastins, fibronectin etc. resulting in major structural disorders or accelerated tissue aging. Inhibition of these proteolytic enzymes, specific or non-specific, thus is an important factor to be taken into account in the design and development of topical agents: In the prevention of chronic photoaging (protective day care cream) or acute prevention (sunbathing), sunscreen products. Also in the prevention or cosmetic care of certain skin inflammations or irritations.
