Cosmetics & Personal Care Formulations with Substantivity Agents

This formulation demonstrates the multi-functional effectiveness of the CELQUAT® H-100 conditioning polymer in a clear antiperspirant system. Not only can this cationically modified cellulosic polymer be substantive to skin to enhance product aesthetics, it can also build viscosity in this high electrolyte environment. In this prototype, the CELQUAT H-100 polymer provides a good sensorial feeling and body, even without any additional emollient agent or thickener.

This conditioner has been formulated as a daily use conditioner for normal hair. Two conditioning agents have been added to impart softness and body to the hair. It is easily rinsed leaving little build-up. The METHOCEL* cellulose ethers adds viscosity, and acts as a film former assisting conditioning agents to adhere to the hair shaft. METHOCEL is substantive to the hair allowing for easy comb through wet hair.

Floraesters K-100 Jojoba provides a substantive, pleasant, and smooth skin feel to this mask. Florasomes Jojoba provides fragrance and color signals to enhance the formula's appeal. Magnesium sulfate soothes and softens rough skin while providing a delightful heating sensation.

This product is specially formulated to reduce scalp damage and hair breakage, while chemically straightening the hair. Floraesters K-100 Jojoba is a botanically-derived substantive ingredient which, when combined with glycerin, helps to hold moisture in the hair. The combination of Floraesters 20 Jojoba and Floraesters 30 provides emolliency and occlusivity that protects the hair from breakage and reduces the damaging effect of relaxer actives on the scalp while leaving the hair smooth, soft, and silky. (Base should be used in combination with the Activator prior to hair application. The weight use ratio of Base to Activator is 3:1.)

A soothing after-sun moisturizer containing Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil; Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer ; Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer and Jojoba Wax PEG-120 Esters. Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil; Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer ; Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer provides substantive moisturization to the skin. Jojoba Wax PEG-120 Esters is a secondary emulsifying agent that enhances the emollient skin feel.

This crème rinse formula is enhanced by the conditioner, UCARE™ Polymer JR- 30M, which is substantive to the hair. CELLOSIZE™ Polymer PCG-10 is added to build viscosity.

This clear mousse utilizes CELQUAT® SC-240C polymer, which provides substantivity to the hair, excellent wet/dry combability, and excellent hair manageability.

Basic Hair Conditioner is a cationic emulsion formula for excellent combability without loss in volume. It contains Varisoft BT 85 Pellets which improves wet and dry combability. It provides good antistatic properties and makes hair soft and silky. It also offers substantivity to hair and skin and spreads easily on hair.

This soothing lotion gives a moisture treatment to dry skin. It contains a UVB sunscreen and Floraesters K-20W Jojoba, which help the product last longer, imparting substantial skin protection throughout the day. For a lighter skin feel, yet continued strength and substantivity, the formulator may reduce the level of Floraesters K-20W Jojoba to 5%. Florasomes provides an eye-catching appearance and a pleasant, fruity fragrance.

This sunscreen formula contains a Floraesters K-20W with glycerin combination which has been shown to provide extended moisturization.
