Cosmetics & Personal Care Formulations with Amphoteric Surfactants

This color shampoo formula, used for temporary highlights or color maintenance, gives easy application through a gel form. The use of Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer allows for the thickening of this shampoo. Salt can not be used as it significantly decreases the uptake of the dyes onto the hair. The amphoteric surfactants, recommended for use with cationic hair dyes, are also more difficult to thicken with salt.

This mild, conditioning shampoo is ideal for babies, toddlers and pre-teens. Its amphoteric surfactant system provides mild cleansing with good foaming properties. PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Trioleate; Propylene Glycol; Water thickens the system at a relatively low use level, while improving the overall feel of the formulation. Polyquaternium-10 imparts conditioning properties and contributes to the foam feel.

This crystal clear formulation is perfect for use as a baby shampoo. The hydrophobic substitution of SOFTCAT™ SL-100 polymer is compatible with the traditionally milder amphoteric surfactants used in this application and provides excellent feel both in use and after drying. Crodacel QL is a highly functional quaternary cellulose derivative, included for its excellent detangling and antistatic properties along with acting as a conditioning and moisturizing agent. This formulation utilities the mild amphoteric surfactant Incronam 30, which not only helps build viscosity but also produces large amounts of foam.
