RAS Materials, founded in 1995 and headquartered in Regensburg, Germany, is a specialist in nanosilver technologies for antimicrobial applications. Acquired by HeiQ Group in 2021 (now HeiQ RAS AG), the company develops innovative, sustainable material solutions with a focus on high-performance additives for polymers, coatings, and other industries, emphasizing eco-friendly, long-lasting antimicrobial protection. For the coatings industry, RAS Materials offers nanosilver-based dispersions and additives (including antimicrobial agents). agpure® W10

agpure® W10 by ras materials is a non-toxic nanosilver colloidal dispersion with a nominal silver content of 10 w/w% and stabilizing agents, consisting of less than 10% emulsifying agent. It contains silver particles of about 15 nm size with a narrow size distribution of 99% of the particle number concentration exhibiting a diameter of below 20 nm. Acts as a biocide showing strong activity against all gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, antibiotic-resistant strains, yeast and fungi. Exhibits UV stability, negative zeta potential, excellent leach resistance and cleaning/washing resistance. Provides long-term preservation against staining, reduction of germ adherence, disturbance of the germs, K+-metabolism, irreversible reaction with S-containing amino acids and slow marginal Ag+- release. Helps in avoiding cytotoxicity, adverse odors and the spread of diseases including nosocomial infections caused by MRSA. It is not a sterilizing agent and does not have long range effects. Can be processed at high temperatures (more than 300°C). It is orange in color, easy to use, free of any fillers, miscible in water and insoluble in solvents, salts or solids (leads to agglomeration). It can be mixed with the pigment paste and subsequently incorporated or simply combined with the dispersion. Suitable for use in aqueous solutions. Applications include lacquers, varnishes and coatings used over thermoplastic, duroplastic and elastomeric polymers. Recommended dosage ranges between 100 and 2000 ppm.

agpure® W50

agpure® W50 by RAS Materials is a water soluble dispersion of about 50 %wt colloidal silver. This dispersion can be added to polymer chips for producing an antimicrobial masterbatch or compound. It contains silver particles of about 15 nm size with a narrow size distribution of 99% of the particle number concentration exhibiting a diameter of below 20 nm. Acts as a biocide showing strong activity against all gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, antibiotic-resistant strains, yeast and fungi. Offers long-term preservation against staining, reduction of germ adherence, disturbance of the germs, K+-metabolism, irreversible reaction with S-containing amino acids and slow marginal Ag+- release.
