NMA 48

NMA 48 by PT. Dover Chemical is an aqueous solution of n-methylol acrylamide, a bifunctional monomer containing both vinyl and hydroxymethyl groups. This dual functionality allows polymers to be synthesized through various methods, including emulsion, solution, or suspension polymerization techniques.

The hydroxymethyl groups are self-cross-linkable under moderate conditions and can be reacted separately by adjusting the reaction parameters.

For instance, the hydroxymethyl group can first react with a substrate like cellulose and subsequently undergo cross-linking via free radical polymerization.

NMA 48 is used in a wide range of applications, including binders in papermaking and paper coatings, antistatic agents in textiles, non-woven textile finishes, surface coating resins for varnishes and paints.

It has a shelf life of 10 months.
