Butan-1-ol. Acts as a solvent. It is an organic mono-constituent substance. N-Butanol is incompatible with strong oxidizers (permanganates, perhydrol). It reacts with strong mineral acids. Used in the nitro-cellulose and alkyd resin based varnishes. Also used for urea and phenolic resin based varnishes.
