Exolit® AP 422 by Clariant is a colorless, non-hygroscopic, non-flammable, fine particle ammonium polyphosphate (phase II). Acts as a flame retardant used as an acid donor due to its low water solubility. Exhibits very low acid number. Imparts lower viscosity in aqueous suspensions and in PU polyol suspension. Designed for intumescent coatings on wood or plastics. Steel structures coated with intumescent paints can meet the requirements of fire resistance classes specified in EN, DIN, BS, ASTM and others. Their application on wood or plastics enables these materials to qualify for Building Material Class B (DIN EN 13501-1). Polyurethane foams with Exolit® AP 422 can be recycled. Recommended dosage level is 15-20% to achieve DIN EN 13501-1 classification with chipboard products. Exolit® AP 462 by Clariant acts as a flame retardant. It is ammonium polyphosphate, micro-encapsulated with melamine resin. Particularly suitable as an "acid donor". Possesses low heat stability in the temperature range >300°C. Exhibits non-hygroscopic and non-flammable characteristics. Imparts improved powder flowability. Shows marked reduction in water-soluble constituents, even lower viscosity in aqueous suspension. Exolit® AP 462 is used for intumescent coatings for wood or plastics. The shelf life is 12 months from the date of shipping. Exolit® AP 435 by Clariant is a high quality, fine-particle size, ammonium polyphosphate grade. It is halogen-free and flame retardant. It exhibits low and stable viscosity in cold environments and prolongs the shelf-life. Exolit® AP 435 is suitable for water-based intumescent coatings. Exolit® AP 418 (TP) by Clariant is a halogen-free flame retardant with favorable environmental and health profile. It is suitable as an acid donor for solvent-based intumescent coatings thanks to its low water solubility. It offers longer fire resistance time (FRT) compared to conventional solutions by exhibiting an earlier on-set temperature.

It is non-hygroscopic, biodegradable and non-flammable.

It is used in thin metal sheet surfaces (e. g. aluminum), plastic materials, composite materials (carbon- or glass-fiber reinforced materials, wood plastic composites), polyurethane, and textiles.

Exolit® AP 418 (TP) can be used in transport applications to obtain good fire, smoke and toxicity results (EN 45545).

Exolit® AP 742 by Clariant is an ammonium polyphosphate. Acts as a non-halogenated flame retardant. Develops its effectiveness through phosphorus/nitrogen synergism. Differs in its mode of action from chlorine or bromine containing flame retardants by achieving its effect through intumescence. The flame retarded material foams on exposure to flame. The carbon foam layer so formed protects the polymer through its heat-insulating effect and reduces further oxygen access. Exolit® AP 742 is used in intumescent coatings. Exolit® AP 740 F by Clariant is a non-halogenated flame retardant based on ammonium polyphosphate which develops its effectiveness through phosphorus/nitrogen synergism. Suitable both for coatings and reinforced materials. It differs in its mode of action from chlorine or bromine containing flame retardants by achieving its effect through intumescence and has compared to Exolit® AP 740 smaller particles.

It exhibits low smoke density and can be used alone or in combination with synergists like aluminum hydroxide in composites.

By its addition in unsaturated polyester gel coats, important standards like DIN EN 13501-1 or DIN 5510 S4 SR2 ST2, EN 45545-2 can be passed.

Possesses lower viscosity in aqueous suspensions as well as in PU polyol suspensions and has very low acid number. It is largely insoluble in water and completely insoluble in organic solvents. Exolit® AP 423 is also used as an acid donor for intumescent coatings on wood or plastics. Exolit® OP 550 by Clariant is a non-halogenated, phosphorus-based flame retardant with favorable environmental and health profile. It is a highly reactive polyol with medium-viscosity and low vapor pressure. It reduces smoke density and smoke gas corrosivity. It is suitable for low VOC applications. Used in coatings for automotive industry. Exolit® OP 550 has a shelf life of 12 months. Exolit® AP 422 A by Clariant is a non-halogenated flame retardant with favorable environmental and health profile. It is a fine-particle ammonium polyphosphate (phase II) with less than 0.1% melamine. It is colorless, non-hygroscopic, non-flammable and free of SVHCs. It has low viscosity in aqueous suspension, very low acid number.
