CAB-O-SIL® MS-35

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® MS-35 by Cabot is fumed silica. It exhibits high purity, low bulk density and hydrophobic surface chemistry. It has submicron particle size and an aggregate structure. It provides good thickening, thixotrophic (shear-thinning) and anti-settling properties. CAB-O-SIL® MS-35 is used in inks and coatings.

CAB-O-SIL® CT-1221

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® CT-1221 by Cabot is high purity, fumed silica designed for powder coatings applications. It is has been treated with hexamethyldisilazane (HMDZ). This treatment replaces many of the surface hydroxyl groups on the fumed silica with trimethylsilyl groups, rendering it very hydrophobic. Exhibits aggregated structure, submicron particle size, low bulk density and hydrophobic surface chemistry. CAB-O-SIL® CT-1221 imparts excellent fluidization, free-flow properties, improved storage stability, transfer efficiency and productivity during application. It provides anti-blocking/anti-caking properties. Enables good film appearance (lack of orange peel) in final coating. At low loading levels, CAB-O-SIL® CT-1221 possesses high performance.

CAB-O-SIL® EH-5

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® EH-5 by Cabot is a high surface fumed silica used to provide thickening, thixotropic (shear-thinning) and anti-settling behavior in liquid systems. It exhibits high purity, aggregated structure, submicron particle size, low bulk density and hydrophilic surface chemistry. In clear coatings and other systems, CAB-O-SIL® EH-5 offers greater transparency than lower surface area fumed silicas.

CAB-O-SIL® TS-610

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® TS-610 by Cabot is a low surface area fumed silica surface modified with dimethyldichlorosilane. The treatment replaces some of the hydroxyls on the surface of the silica, resulting in increased hydrophobicity. It controls rheology in non-polar to medium polarity inks and coatings. Exhibits high purity, aggregated structure, submicron particle size, low bulk density and hydrophilic surface chemistry. The hydrophobic surface of CAB-O-SIL® TS-610 has a lower capacity for moisture adsorbtion than untreated fumed silica of equal base silica surface area. Hence, it will introduce and adsorb less moisture when used as a free-flow additive in powder systems. It is an effective free-flow additive for powder systems that are moisture sensitive.

CAB-O-SIL® TS-720

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® TS-720 by Cabot is a medium surface area fumed silica surface treated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). This surface treatment results in a hydrophobic silica with a very different performance than untreated silica. Acts as a rheology modifier imparting good thickening efficiency, sag resistance (or film build) and anti-settling. Exhibits high purity, aggregated structure, submicron particle size, low bulk density and hydrophilic surface chemistry. The hydrophobic surface of CAB-O-SIL® TS-720 introduces very little moisture into polyurethane coating systems, retarding premature cross-linking of moisture cured systems. Provides stable rheological performance over time.

CAB-O-SIL® TS-530

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® TS-530 by Cabot is fumed silica surface treated with hexamethyldisilazane (HMDZ). This treatment replaces hydroxyls on the surface of the silica, resulting in increased hydrophobicity. Exhibits high purity, aggregated structure, submicron particle size, low bulk density and hydrophilic surface chemistry. Enables low viscosity build with good sag resistance without excessive unwanted increase in viscosity and anti-settling of pigments and fillers. CAB-O-SIL® TS-530 imparts dispersion improvement, flow and leveling, promoting a smooth surface for the end-product.

CAB-O-SIL® M-5

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® M-5 by Cabot is medium surface fumed silica. It is widely used to provide thickening, thixotrophic (shear thinning), and anti-settling behavior in liquid systems. It is most efficient in non-polar to medium polarity systems. Offers an excellent balance of thickening efficiency and dispersibility. Exhibits high purity, aggregated structure, submicron particle size, low bulk density and hydrophilic surface chemistry. When blended into sticky and poorly flowing powder systems, CAB-O-SIL® M-5 reduces the angle of repose and improves powder flow. It can be used as a rheology control additive in all resin systems, when hydrophobicity and shelf stability are of only moderate concern.

CAB-O-SIL® L-90

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® L-90 by Cabot is a hydrophilic, easily dispersible, untreated fumed silica. Acts as a rheology modifier. Exhibits lowest surface area, high purity, submicron particle size, aggregated structure and low bulk density. Offers high shear thinning effect and low resin polarity. It improves reinforcement and limit the impact on viscosity increase. CAB-O-SIL® L-90 is suitable for use in solvent-based paints and coatings applications.

CAB-O-SIL® LM-150

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® LM-150 by Cabot is an untreated, low surface area, hydrophilic fumed silica. Acts as a thickener. Imparts a moderate increase in viscosity & reinforcement in liquid and polymer systems. Exhibits high purity, good dispersibility, submicron particle size, low bulk density and aggregated structure. CAB-O-SIL® LM-150 is suitable for use in high solids polyester coatings including furniture, can and coil coatings.

CAB-O-SIL® HS-5

by Cabot

CAB-O-SIL® HS-5 by Cabot is a high surface area fumed silica. It can increase the viscosity of liquid coating by imparting thickening, thixotropy (shear-thinning), and anti-settling. Exhibits high purity, aggregated structure, submicron particle size, low bulk density and hydrophilic surface chemistry. It is suitable for use in low to medium polarity systems. High shear dispersion equipment is recommended to realize the full benefits of CAB-O-SIL® HS-5. When very well dispersed, CAB-O-SIL HS-5 fumed silica provides good transparency in clear coatings.
