About C.E.D. Process Minerals

C.E.D. Process Minerals was established in 1981 and is headquartered in Akron, Ohio, USA. The company specializes in high-purity cristobalite and quartz-based materials. Its coatings portfolio is used in architectural paints, epoxy coatings, sealants, and traffic paints for enhanced brightness, durability, and chemical resistance. C.E.D. emphasizes additive-free manufacturing, avoiding mineralizers in its cristobalite production. The company supports sustainability through clean solid-state processes and chemically inert formulations. Its mission focuses on delivering high-performance fillers with minimal environmental impact.

C-1 Cristobalite

C-1 Cristobalite by C.E.D. Process Minerals acts as a filler. It is synthesized from high purity quartz using a proprietary solid state, high heat manufacturing process. The round shape of its particles results in less abrasion than more angular quartz particles. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is 4 times greater than quartz in the temperature range from 20°C to 300°C. C-1 Cristobalite is ideal for formulating in moisture sensitive systems such as urethanes and also other low water content formulations. C-1 Cristobalite is completely inert due to which it contributes to excellent chemical, acid as well as alkali resistance in formulated products. Offers high purity, low moisture content, neutral pH and lower refractive index than quartz. Used for floor coatings applications.

CristolBrite™

High purity silica. Acts as a pigment extender. It is the thermally modified quartz produced from synthesized cristobalite. CristolBrite™ is resistant to ultraviolet radiation. It does not absorb moisture and is chemically inert. Imparts extreme brightness and enhances strength, durability as well as dimensional stability in a wide range of temperature. Offers fissured as well as inert surface, low moisture, low density (2.33) and high whiteness as well as hardness. Used for clear coats, varnishes and high wear coatings. Also used for marine as well as powder coatings applications.
