CoatOSil™ DRI Waterborne Silicone

Supplied byMomentive Performance Materials- Last Updated on Jan 24, 2025

CoatOSil™ DRI Waterborne Silicone by Momentive Performance Materials is a low viscosity silicone emulsion. It can help to reduce water uptake and improve UV resistance in organic waterborne coating systems. Its chemical structure allows formulators to bridge the traditional difficulties of combining silicone materials with organic waterborne resins. CoatOSil™ DRI Waterborne Silicone is used in architectural-, wood-, and concrete coatings.
  • It can also be considered as a sole binder when maximum thermal and UV stability is a priority.
  • When applied alone, it cures at room temperature to form an elastomeric film.
  • It offers tannin resistance, enhanced mar resistance and low VOC.
  • It improves hydrophobicity and elongation properties when used as a co-binder with acrylic latexes, resulting in more flexible coatings.
  • It is compatible with a variety of waterborne polymer systems including acrylics, styrene acrylics, epoxies, PUDs and alkyds.
  • Recommended dosage level is 5% as an additive, or up to 30% when used as a co-binder in latex systems. Ladder study is recommended to determine optimum dosage based on performance.
