Preventol® BZX by LANXESS is CMIT-, MIT-, VOC-, solvent- & halogen-free, in-can preservative based on benzisothiazolinone and zinc pyrithione. It is used for the preservation of water-borne paints and coatings. It offers broad spectrum of activity that gives reliable protection against bacteria, mold and yeast. This formaldehyde- & aldehyde-free additive provides alkaline stability up to approx pH 10 and processing temperature up to about 60°C. Preventol® BZX possesses good compatibility. It is suitable for applications requiring low or zero VOC content like low-emission interior wall paints. The shelf life of this product is one year.
