SpeedBlock AO1 by Lambson (Sartomer) is a tetrakis[methylene(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydro-cinnamate)]methane. Acts as a sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant. A non-polluting, non-toxic antioxidant with good heat and water resisting performance. This highly efficient and non-discoloring stabilizer & antioxidant hinders thermally induced oxidation of polymers such as organic substrates such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene-1, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin, polystyrene resin, polyvinylchloride, engineering plastics and other petroleum products for polymerization. It works by trapping free radicals formed upon heating in the presence of oxygen and prevents the change of the resins mechanical properties. It can be used in combination with other additives such as co-stabilisers (eg phosphites, phosphonites), light stabilizers (see the Speedblock product range) and other functional stabilizers. Used in coatings. Recommended concentrations of 500 ppm to 2000 ppm of Speedblock AO1 should provide long thermal stability to the polymer. For polyoelfins, use between 0.1% to 0.5% depending on substrate.
