It acts as a viscosity depressant and water repellent. It is a colorless, alkaline, low-viscosity, water miscible liquid that contains silanols and complex stabilizers. Improves product stability by preventing premature coagulation of the silicate binder, increases the binder’s resistance to electrolytes. Facilitates the dispersion of pigments and fillers as well as passivates reactive multivalent metal ions. Also exerts a hydrophobic effect, lengthens the wet edge time, thus facilitates application and reduces staining of colored coatings. Recommended applications include paints and coatings.
