SYLOID® 244 FP distributed by DKSH is a synthetic amorphous silica. It acts as a glidant and can be used as a suspension aid in tablet coatings. It offers moisture protection and anti-tacking properties.
- It has very high purity and is taste and odor free, with a fine particle size, high pore volume, and large internal surface area.
- It has a strong affinity for moisture and can adsorb liquids and active ingredients up to 1.6 ml per gram, helping powders remain dry and free flowing for consistent processing and dosing.
- It improves processability, stability, and shelf life of formulations.
- It also functions as a multifunctional additive that is highly compatible with active ingredients.
- It can act as an efficient inactive excipient for improving oral formulations, particularly for moisture-sensitive pharmaceutical actives.
- It meets the requirements of the U.S. Pharmacopoeia–National Formulary for silicon dioxide, European Pharmacopoeia for silica colloidal hydrated, and ICH Guideline on Elemental Impurities Q3D.
- It also meets requirements for Japanese Pharmaceutical Excipients for hydrated silicon dioxide, Food Chemical Codex (FCC), Regulation (EU) No. 231/2012 for E 551, and Japan’s Specification on Standard for Food Processing Aids for silicon dioxide.
- It has a shelf life of 12 months.
