Chartsil B-525.1 by Chartwell International is a carboxy functional adhesion promoter. It is a dry free flowing solid and is absorbed upon a high surface area precipitated silica carrier. The product physically breaks down upon compounding to release the active carboxy functional adhesion promoter. It is useful in powder coatings, where it is especially useful for enhancing adhesion of polyester powder coatings to many metal substrates (CRS, aluminum, brass, copper, etc.) where liquid additives cannot easily be handled for improving salt fog & blistering resistance and reducing creep at the scribe for enhancing adhesion of thermoset acrylic, polyester solvent-borne coatings to metal surfaces with a consequent reduction in corrosion and also for enhancing adhesion of thermoset acrylic & polyester to metal surfaces with (oxygen containing polymers only). Chartsil B-525.1 recommended level for powder coatings is 1.4 - 2.0 phr (parts per hundred resin).
