Polyester Resins for Coatings and Inks

EBECRYL® 436 by allnex is a reactive chlorinated polyester resin diluted 40% with the reactive diluent trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA). It exhibits good lithographic behavior, pigment wetting properties and fast cure response in ultraviolet light (UV) curable coatings and inks. Cured films of EBECRYL® 436 display good adhesion to metals, plastics and paper. It is recommended for wet lithographic inks for paper, plastics and metals, overprint varnishes and post-formable inks.

MARNEX™ AH448 by Macroocean is a high molecular weight, saturated linear polyester resin. It shows excellent adhesive strength to steel, aluminum foil, PET or PVC films. Also, better adhesion and film strength can be achieved while cross-linked with melamine or blocked isocyanate curing agents. This grade offers heat seal properties, flexibility, good processibility and no sticky problem during transportation. It can be dissolved in ketone, ether or esters type of solvents, such as isophorone, acetone, MEK, CYC, DBE & EA. And it is usually dissolved with aromatic solvents, such as 100# & 150#. MARNEX™ AH448 is recommended for interior can coating and screen printing & gravure inks. It complies with FDA 175.300 (only for non-alcoholic goods) and 175.105. The shelf life of this product is 24 months.

SYNTEVEN 422 distributed by DKSH is a styrenic orthophthalic unsaturated polyester resin, amine promoted with high reactivity and high stability properties. It provides good curing properties and constancy of colour after polymerization. Putties and mastics based on SYNTEVEN 422 cure fully both applied in thick and thin coats. It is available in Germany, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, India and China.

MULTIMOD™ APT-W1 by Macroocean is a linear polyester based, adhesion promoter. It can improve the adhesion to substrates or coatings of different paint & ink systems. This grade can be dissolved in ketone, ether or esters type of solvents, which is usually dissolved with aromatic solvents, such as 100# & 150#, etc. And it can be dissolved in UV monomers, such as HDDA and TPGDA. It can be used in solvent-based, solvent-free and UV curing systems. MULTIMOD™ APT-W1 shows excellent adhesion improvement on steel, aluminum and plastics. It improves the intercoat adhesion, corrosion protection and flexibility. It is used in industrial-, coil-, can- & architectural coating and screen printing ink. Recommended addition for above applications: solid calculated on binder solid: 3-15%. It is in full compliance with FDA 175.300, also for alcoholic contents. The shelf life of this product is 24 months.

SETAL® 173 VS-60 by allnex is a saturated polyester resin. It offers high hardness, very good adhesion & flexibility as well as good chemical- and water resistance. SETAL® 173 VS-60 is used in automotive paint systems (in combination with CAB 531-1), metallic base coats, solid color systems and primers. It has a shelf life of 545 days.

CRYLCOAT® 4823-0 by allnex is a saturated, super-durable, hydroxyl functional polyester resin. Coatings based on this product exhibit good flow, mechanical, chemical and weathering resistance. It is used with block polyisocyanates or uretdiones in the production of powder coatings. The shelf life of CRYLCOAT® 4823-0 is 24 months.

RESYDROL® AY 5537w/35WA by allnex is an acrylic modified, oil-free saturated polyester resin in aqueous emulsion with incorporated catalyst. Exhibits excellent paint stability. It is suited for the production of waterborne high-quality white and colored one-coat finishes or top coats with good weathering resistance for industrial applications (machines, instruments). For film formation, RESYDROL® AY 5537w/35WA must be crosslinked with amino resins suitable for aqueous systems. Provides high film hardness balanced with extraordinary good flexibility as well as excellent water and solvent resistance in stoved coatings applications. The adhesion to substrates is good. It has a shelf life of at least 180 days at temperatures upto 25°C.

MARCOA™ CH488 by Macroocean is a high molecular weight, saturated linear polyester resin. It is suitable to replace BPA based epoxy resins for BADGE-free formulations. It shows excellent adhesive strength to steel and aluminum. A mixed crosslinking agent with melamine, phenolic and block NCO is recommended. MARCOA™ CH488 offers high sterilization resistance and good flexibility. It can be dissolved in ketone, ether or esters type of solvents, such as isophorone, acetone, MEK, CYC, DBE and EA. And, it is usually dissolved with aromatic solvents, such as 100# & 150#. Recommended for interior can coating, three-piece cans, pilfer proof caps and drawn & irregular cans. It complies with FDA 175.300, also for alcoholic contents. The shelf life of this product is 24 months.

MARCOA™ CH449 by Macroocean is a high molecular weight, saturated linear polyester resin. It offers high flexibility, high processibility and excellent adhesion to aluminum. This grade shows adhesive strength to steels. Also, better adhesion and film strength can be achieved while cross-linked with melamine or blocked isocyanate curing agents. It can be dissolved in ketone, ether or esters type of solvents, such as isophorone, acetone, MEK, CYC, DBE and EA. And, it is usually dissolved with aromatic solvents, such as 100# & 150#. MARCOA™ CH449 is used in coil coating, primer for home appliances & buildings (indoor use), interior can coating, tubes and aerosol cans. It complies with FDA 175.300, also for alcoholic contents. The shelf life of this product is 24 months.

VYLON® 670 distributed by DKSH is a high molecular weight copolyester with low glass transition temperature. It is flame retardant and shows adhesion to PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and metal. It can be dissolved by general purpose organic solvents.
