Opacifiers / Hiding Agents for Coatings and Inks

AQACell® HIDE 6299 na by BASF is a APEO and ammonia-free, low odor organic opacifying anionic dispersion pigment. It is highly scattering, spherical and low relative surface area leads to very low binder demand.

• Enhances paint opacity and whiteness by improving the efficiency of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) while maintaining interior and exterior coating properties.
• It is used in low- and high-PVC paint systems, as well as in architectural coatings, including exterior and interior paints.
• AQACell® HIDE 6299 na improves economics of paints while maintaining equal hiding power.
• Offers lower carbon footprint compared to TiO₂.

DCC Orange 7034 distributed by DKSH is a clean blue shade opaque orange pigment. It has excellent resistance against acid & alkali and over paint.

• It shows very good resistance against methyl ethyl ketone, water, mineral spirits, xylene, ethanol and ethyl acetate.
• It exhibits migration, heat stability and very good light- & good weather fastness.
• It is used in variety of paint systems such as decorative-, industrial- and powder coatings.
• DCC Orange 7034 is suitable for automotive & aerospace applications and is available only in Portugal.

Celtix™ by Imerys is new opacifying titanium dioxide extender for high PVC matt paints. Possesses exceptional dry hiding, and additional matting properties. Exhibits high opacity for single coat decorative paints. Has exceptional opacifying capability, which makes it ideal for cost-effective decorative coatings formulated at PVC > CPVC.

• Provides very good hiding power in single-coat paints.

Opacity Pigment™ FP-260 by FP-Pigments is a TiO₂-based opacifier with an anionic charge. It is suitable for paper and board applications. It provides optimal optical properties enabling full or partial replacement of TiO₂ in paper coating and in furnish as a filler. Opacity Pigment™ FP-260 is easy to disperse at high solids.

Opacity Pigment™ FP-460 by FP-Pigments is a high performance white opacifier. It is designed to provide optimal optical properties enabling partial replacement of TiO₂ in paints. It is recommended for paints below cPVC (silk, satin, semigloss & flat paints), and for paints above cPVC with TiO₂ content above 5% (high quality matt- and one coat matt paints).

• It has a unique engineered structure which incorporates multiple scattering techniques, allowing the formulator to greatly improve TiO2 efficiency without any compromise in coating performance.
• It helps to significantly reduce costs while maintaining film properties such as scrub resistance.

Opacity Pigment™ FP-365 by FP-Pigments is a TiO₂-free opacifier with a large particle size and an anionic charge. It is an engineered precipitated calcium carbonate with an ultra-high purity, spherical form and highly porous structure as compared to the standard grade. In neutral to alkaline processes, it is used in wet end, surface treatment and paper coating applications.

• It exhibits light scattering property and can be dispersed to slurry very easily.
• It offers improved paper opacity, brightness, shade and print quality.
• It can be used as a filler in paper making process to maintain better paper strength properties and allow higher filler loading.
• Opacity Pigment™ FP-365 is used in thinprint-, recycled- & thermal paper, recycled board, coated testliner and wetlaid synthetics.

Opacity Pigment™ FP-610 by FP-Pigments is an opacifier with an anionic surface charge. It is recommended for water-based offset-, flexo-, inkjet- and gravure inks. It offers excellent hiding power, color performance and rheological properties.

• It provides optimal optical properties enabling partial replacement of TiO₂ in printing inks.
• The recommended replacement level is between 5-20%.
• Opacity Pigment™ FP-610 is fully REACH compliant.

Opacity Pigment™ FP-300 by FP-Pigments is a TiO₂-free opacifier with a spherical & porous structure. It is an ultra-pure, engineered precipitated calcium carbonate. It is suitable for inkjet applications.

• It can be used as a filler to enhance the brightness and bulk of recycled office papers.
• The unique crystal structure provides high light scattering and good paper opacity but with lower chemical demand.
• In paper furnish applications, Opacity Pigment™ FP-300 offers excellent retention due to its particle size and cationic charge.
