Moisture Scavengers for Coatings and Inks

Sylosiv® A4 distributed by DKSH is a highly effective moisture scavenger for coating systems. It is a micronized, highly porous, and crystalline aluminosilicate. It is used in two component polyurethane systems and metallic pigment coatings (zinc-rich primers, aluminium paints).

• It has a shelf life of 12 months.

SILIPORITE® NK 10 AP distributed by DKSH is a high performance molecular sieve activated powder. It is a synthetic zeolite type A of crystalline structure in potassium-sodium form, having an effective pore opening approximately of 4 angströms (4A).

• It is suitable for all purposes where a drying agent, easy to use and of high efficiency is needed.
• It is used in polyurethane systems (paints, coating) for the application and paints based on metallic pigments (zinc, aluminium).

SILIPORITE® SA 1720 distributed by DKSH is a high-performance molecular sieve activated powder, a synthetic zeolite type A with a crystalline structure in potassium-sodium aluminosilicate form. It has an effective pore opening of approximately 3 angströms (3A).

• It is suitable for all purposes where a drying agent, easy to use and of high efficiency is needed.
• It is used in polyurethane systems (paints, coating) for the application where foaming should be avoided and pot life optimized.

Sylosiv® A 3 distributed by DKSH is a micronized, highly porous, and crystalline aluminosilicate. It is a highly effective moisture scavenger for coating systems where even traces of water may create problems. It is used in two component polyurethane systems, moisture-curable polyurethanes, metallic pigment coatings, polysulfide and silicone systems.

• It has a shelf life of 12 months.
• Sylosiv® A 3 is available in Europe and Asia Pacific.

Additive TI by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active, highly reactive moisture scavenger. It is a low viscosity, monofunctional isocyanate which chemically reacts with water to form an inert amide.

• It removes moisture introduced with solvents, pigments, and fillers in one- and two-component polyurethane solvent-based coating systems.
• It provides short-term dehydration and prevents moisture-related problems in polyurethane coatings.
• Recommended to improve the storage stability of di-isocyanates against decomposition and discoloration.
• The dosage level of Additive TI is 0.5-4.0% of the total weight of the formula.

Additive OF by Borchers (Milliken) is a low-viscosity, 100% active moisture scavenger that eliminates moisture in solvent-based one- and two-component polyurethane coatings.

• It provides long-term dehydration in coatings and improved storage stability.
• It is compatible with most polyol and isocyanate components.
• The combination of Additive TI and Additive OF in the formula stabilizes the polyurethane coating (direct contact between Additive TI and Additive OF should be avoided as this could render them ineffective).
• The recommended usage level of Additive OF is 1-3% as supplied based on the total weight of the coating.

Luna-PTSI P distributed by DKSH is a low viscosity reactive additive used for the formulation of polyurethane products. It prevents moisture related problems by reacting with trace moisture. Excess water reacts with Luna PTSI-P towards the corresponding carbamic acid, which undergoes immediate decomposition to form carbon dioxide and the relatively inert p-toluenesulfonamide, which is commonly used as a plasticizer.

• It prevents thickening of polyurethane coatings during storage.
• It does not dimerize or trimerize as alkyl and aryl isocyanates do.
• When stored, purified diisocyanates tend to deteriorate and discolor.
• In this case, Luna-PTSI P can be used for stabilization to improve shelf life.
• It has a shelf life of 18 months.
• This product is available in Europe, Asia and North America.

Sylosiv® P3 distributed by DKSH is a moisture scavenger for coating systems. It is a micronized, highly porous, and crystalline aluminosilicate. It is a paste of 50 wt% SYLOSIV® A3 and 50 wt% castor oil. It is used in two component polyurethane systems.

• It is easy to handle and easy to incorporate into the polyurethane system.
• It has a shelf life of 6 months.
• Sylosiv® P3 is available in Europe and Australia.
