Luna-PTSI P distributed by DKSH is a low viscosity reactive additive used for the formulation of polyurethane products. It prevents moisture related problems by reacting with trace moisture. Excess water reacts with Luna PTSI-P towards the corresponding carbamic acid, which undergoes immediate decomposition to form carbon dioxide and the relatively inert p-toluenesulfonamide, which is commonly used as a plasticizer.
- It prevents thickening of polyurethane coatings during storage.
- It does not dimerize or trimerize as alkyl and aryl isocyanates do.
- When stored, purified diisocyanates tend to deteriorate and discolor.
- In this case, Luna-PTSI P can be used for stabilization to improve shelf life.
