Flow / Levelling Agents for Coatings and Inks

Flexiwet™ CZ-1000 by Innovative Chemical Technologies is a non-fluorinated surfactant mixture that acts as wetting and leveling agent for smoother and defect-free coatings. It offers anti-blocking, improved open time and reduced surface tension at low loading levels without increased foaming.

• It is ideal for wetting difficult-to-wet substrates like plastics, oily substrates and waxy surfaces.
• It does not impart color or change the optical properties of a coating (beyond potential gloss or DOI-distinctness of image).
• It is used in paints and coatings formulations.
• It is a neutralized version of Flexiwet™ CZ-1040K.
• Recommended dosage of Flexiwet™ CZ-1000 is 0.1 to 1.0 wt%.
• It has a shelf life of 12 months.

MODAFLOW® RESIN by allnex is a low/zero VOC, silicone-, APEO-, and tin-free acrylic flow modifier for non-aqueous industrial coatings. It is suitable for radiation curing systems. It offers improved leveling, substrate wetting and enhanced substrate adhesion.

• It helps air release and facilitates pigment dispersion.
• It is effective in eliminating pinholes, fisheyes, orange feel and craters in epoxy, polyester, hybrid, urethane, and acrylic powder coatings.
• It is regulated by the U.S. FDA for indirect food contact applications under several parts of Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations.
• Recommended dosage level of MODAFLOW® RESIN is 0.1-2.0%.
• It has a shelf life of 1460 days at 25°C.

Borchi® Gol OL 17 LC by Borchers (Milliken) is a VOC- and solvent-free flow and leveling agent for solvent- and water-based coatings. It is a 100% active polyether-modified polysiloxane.

• It improves surface smoothness by reducing orange peel and prevents the formation of craters.
• It offers good compatibility with a wide variety of binders.
• It is suitable for two-component systems based on Desmodur®/ Desmophen® resins.
• Borchi® Gol OL 17 LC is recommended at a dosage level of 0.05-0.50%.

Borchi® Gol 0011 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active, modified polysiloxane flow and air release agent for solvent-based and solvent-free coatings systems. It can reduce pigment floating and provides barrier properties to the cured film.

• It is suitable for high-build systems and can be used in combination with Borchi® Gol E2 in epoxies for enhanced flow and deaeration.
• It improves the surface properties of coatings and destroys air bubbles formed in the film during application.
• Borchi® Gol 0011 can be used in conjunction with suitable moisture scavengers to reduce the formation of carbon dioxide bubbles in polyurethane coatings.
• It is effective with all types of coating application methods.
• It is recommended for industrial flooring-, pipe- & storage tank coatings.
• The dosage is 0.5-3.0% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol LA 200 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active and VOC-free defoamer, flow- and leveling agent. It is a solvent-free, polyether-modified polysiloxane additive. It is suitable for solvent-free, solvent- and water-based coating systems.

• It provides an improvement in substrate wetting and block and scratch resistance.
• It can quickly remove air bubbles from applied coated surfaces and avoids micro-foam formation at all production stages.
• It can increase surface slip and promotes higher gloss and less haze in cured finishes.
• It is designed for use in general industrial-, decorative-, automotive OEM- and automotive refinish.
• The recommended dosage of Borchi® Gol LA 200 is 0.05-0.30% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder type and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol E2 by Borchers (Milliken) is a silicone-free, flow promoter and air release agent. It helps to eliminate flow defects and craters caused by air entrapment in thick film.

• It is recommended for solvent-based and solvent-free paint systems.
• The efficacy is dependent upon binder type, mixing conditions and application method used.
• It is designed for use in single and multi-component paints.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol E2 is 0.5-2.0% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol 1570 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active, VOC-free, modified polydimethylsiloxane for improved flow and leveling properties in coating systems. It provides improved substrate wetting and slip properties when used in combination with Borchi® Gol LA 2 or Borchi® Gol LA 232.

• It can inhibit the formation of surface defects like craters and pinholes.
• It shows reduced surface tension for a wide range of solvent and water-based systems.
• It is designed for use in general industrial-, decorative- & UV-curable coating systems.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol 1570 is 0.05-0.30 % based on the weight of the total formulation.

Borchi® Gol 1670 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active silicone-based leveling agent with an anti-floating effect. It reduces surface tension and prevents pigment float and Benard cell formation. It can be used at ambient or slightly increased temperatures.

• Designed for solvent-based systems and coating systems based on alkyd binders and unsaturated polyester paints containing paraffin.
• The recommended dosage level of Borchi® Gol 1670 is 0.01-0.05% by weight on the total formulation, depending upon the binder system.

Borchi® Gol LA 50 by Borchers (Milliken) is a substrate wetting, flow and leveling agent. It is polyether-modified polysiloxane designed for water- and solvent-based coating applications.

• It lowers the surface tension of a wide range of formulated systems and inhibits the formation of surface defects in non-polar surfaces.
• It is suitable for use with Borchi® Gol LA 2 for better slip.
• It is also used in UV-cured general industrial, decorative and wood coatings.
• The recommended dosage level of Borchi® Gol LA 50 is 0.05-0.30% based on the total formulation.

AHA1088P distributed by DKSH is a general purpose, polyacrylate-based flow modifier or flow control agent. It is used in powder coatings, where a liquid acrylic homopolymer is absorbed onto a SiO₂ carrier and then converted into a free-flowing powder.

• It improves levelling and prevents “orange peel”.
• In addition, it also prevents surface defects such as craters, pinholes and fisheyes.
• It is suitable for polyesters, polyurethanes, hybrids, epoxies and acrylics.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.5-1.5% by weight, calculated on total formulation.
• AHA1088P has a shelf life of 1 year.
• It is available in Canada and USA.
