Flow / Levelling Agents for Coatings and Inks

Borchi® Gol 0011 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active, modified polysiloxane flow and air release agent for solvent-based and solvent-free coatings systems. It can reduce pigment floating and provides barrier properties to the cured film.

• It is suitable for high-build systems and can be used in combination with Borchi® Gol E2 in epoxies for enhanced flow and deaeration.
• It improves the surface properties of coatings and destroys air bubbles formed in the film during application.
• Borchi® Gol 0011 can be used in conjunction with suitable moisture scavengers to reduce the formation of carbon dioxide bubbles in polyurethane coatings.
• It is effective with all types of coating application methods.
• It is recommended for industrial flooring-, pipe- & storage tank coatings.
• The dosage is 0.5-3.0% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system and which property is being addressed.

Thetawet™ FS-8020EB by Innovative Chemical Technologies is a 30% active, water soluble, low foaming, anionic fluorosurfactant with tolerance to mineral based fillers (calcium carbonate). It acts as excellent wetting and leveling agent for wetting difficult to wet surfaces (plastics, oily substrates, waxy surfaces), for reduction in coating surface defects and enhanced gloss development for smoother, more even films in finishes & polishes. It does not impart color or change the optical properties of the coating beyond potential gloss or DOI improvement from better reflectance. It shows exceptional stability and functionality in severe thermal & chemical environments, also stable even in highly acidic or basic environments and in hard water without chelation. It is ideal for use in VOC sensitive systems. It is used in industrial and architectural paints & coatings, floor finishes, sealers, automotive finishes & top coats, lacquers and polishes. It is based on short-chain fluorochemical technology which meets the goal of the US EPA 2010/2015 PFOA Stewardship Program. Recommended dosage level of Thetawet™ FS-8020EB is 0.01-0.05%. It has a shelf life of 12 months.

MODAFLOW® RESIN by allnex is a low/zero VOC, silicone-, APEO-, and tin-free acrylic flow modifier for non-aqueous industrial coatings. It is suitable for radiation curing systems. It offers improved leveling, substrate wetting and enhanced substrate adhesion.

• It helps air release and facilitates pigment dispersion.
• It is effective in eliminating pinholes, fisheyes, orange feel and craters in epoxy, polyester, hybrid, urethane, and acrylic powder coatings.
• It is regulated by the U.S. FDA for indirect food contact applications under several parts of Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations.
• Recommended dosage level of MODAFLOW® RESIN is 0.1-2.0%.
• It has a shelf life of 1460 days at 25°C.

Borchi® Gol 1473 by Borchers (Milliken) is a VOC- & solvent-free flow and leveling agent. It is a 100% active polyether-modified polydimethylsiloxane. It is recommended for topcoats that are cured at room temperature and below 150°C. It is suitable for solvent- and water-based systems, as well as solvent-free systems.

• It provides improved surface smoothness by reducing orange peel and preventing formation of craters.
• It shows broad compatibility in various systems.
• It can be used in a wide variety of binders.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol 1473 is 0.05-0.50% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system.

Flexiwet™ CZ-1040K by Innovative Chemical Technologies is a non-fluorinated surfactant mixture-based wetting- and leveling agent for smoother and defect-free coatings. It offers anti-blocking, improved open time and reduced surface tension without increased foaming.

• It is ideal for wetting difficult-to-wet substrates like plastics, oily substrates and waxy surfaces.
• It does not impart color or change the optical properties of a coating (beyond potential gloss or DOI- distinctness of image).
• It is used in paints and coatings formulations.
• It is a pre-neutralized version of Flexiwet™ CZ-1000.
• Recommended dosage of Flexiwet™ CZ-1040K is 0.2 to 2.0 wt%.
• It has a shelf life of 12 months.

ADDITOL® P 890 (Old Name: ADDITOL® E 04149) by allnex is a flow promoter masterbatch for use in indoor and outdoor clear powder coatings. It contains approximately 10% active ingredient in a hydroxylated polyester carrier. The addition of 7-8% in a powder formulation is suggested. The recommended shelf life of ADDITOL® P 890 is 24 months.

Borchi® Gol OL 17 LC by Borchers (Milliken) is a VOC- and solvent-free flow and leveling agent for solvent- and water-based coatings. It is a 100% active polyether-modified polysiloxane.

• It improves surface smoothness by reducing orange peel and prevents the formation of craters.
• It offers good compatibility with a wide variety of binders.
• It is suitable for two-component systems based on Desmodur®/ Desmophen® resins.
• Borchi® Gol OL 17 LC is recommended at a dosage level of 0.05-0.50%.

ADDITOL® XL 6537 by allnex is a low VOC, silicone-free, polyester-based flow modifier. It is designed for high performance polyester- and acrylic-based, solvent borne and high solids coating applications. It improves flow and leveling, controls surface defects and reduces pinholes, fish-eyes, craters and orange peel.

• It offers improved substrate wetting, long wave reduction, DOI/dullness, degassing and appearance.
• It provides good compatibility, air release and high gloss potential.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.05-1.0%.
• ADDITOL® XL 6537 has a shelf life of 730 days.

Flexiwet™ CZ-1000 by Innovative Chemical Technologies is a non-fluorinated surfactant mixture that acts as wetting and leveling agent for smoother and defect-free coatings. It offers anti-blocking, improved open time and reduced surface tension at low loading levels without increased foaming.

• It is ideal for wetting difficult-to-wet substrates like plastics, oily substrates and waxy surfaces.
• It does not impart color or change the optical properties of a coating (beyond potential gloss or DOI-distinctness of image).
• It is used in paints and coatings formulations.
• It is a neutralized version of Flexiwet™ CZ-1040K.
• Recommended dosage of Flexiwet™ CZ-1000 is 0.1 to 1.0 wt%.
• It has a shelf life of 12 months.

MODAFLOW® 2100 by allnex is a silicone-free, acrylic flow modifier. It is developed for high-performance polyester- and acrylic-based, high solids & UV liquid coating applications and radiation curing systems.

• It improves leveling and substrate wetting, helps air release and facilitates pigment dispersion.
• It reduces pinholes, fisheyes, craters and orange peel.
• Recommended dosage level of MODAFLOW® 2100 is 0.1-1.0%.
• It can be stored at 25°C for 1460 days.
