Extenders for Coatings and Inks

SYLOWHITE™ SM 405 distributed by DKSH is a fine particle size, precipitated sodium magnesium aluminium silicate titanium dioxide extender. It enhances optical brightness and optimizes opacity.

ADDITOL® XL 6583 by allnex is a dispersing agent for paints with a sensitive cure mechanism (e.g., acid or base-catalyzed). It stabilizes primary pigment particles by steric stabilization as well as electrostatic repulsion. It decreases mill base viscosity, especially in formulations with high pigment loading. It can be used for all kinds of industrial coating systems because of its broad range of compatibility. It possesses active content and high effectiveness.

• It offers gloss improvement, excellent color stabilization, anti-floating (rub-out), and anti-sedimentation effect.
• This extremely hydrophobic polymer allows improved corrosion-, water-, humidity-, and weather resistance.
• It is suitable for radiation-curing systems, solvent-free and low-VOC formulations.
• It is highly recommended for ACURE® technology-2 pack epoxy resins (solvent-borne and 100% solids), high solid acrylic resins and melamine-cured high bake systems.
• The recommended dosage level is 1-5% for inorganic pigments and/or extenders and 5-30% for organic pigments.
• ADDITOL® XL 6583 has a shelf life of 730 days.

TERAMINE® A-136 by Pflaumer Brothers is a low viscosity, cycloaliphatic secondary amine-based chain extender for polyurethanes, epoxies and polyureas. It can be used in 2K systems with both aromatic and aliphatic isocyanates to extend pot life and improve performance. It offers excellent chemical resistance (solvents, acids and alkalis) and weatherability, thermal resistance, film transparency, UV resistance, color fastness and solvent free coating formulations at 100% solids.

• Coatings withstand temperatures up to 90°C, much higher than conventional polyureas.
• Its 2K reaction is much less sensitive to presence of water and is effective in a temperature range of -30°C to 60°C.
• It has longer pot-life in aromatic systems.
• Aliphatic coating systems achieve their ultimate performance properties such as hardness and tensile strength, much faster often within 4 hours compared to conventional aliphatic systems.
• Spray-applied 2K coatings can be formulated at a 1:1 mix ratio.
• It can be used as a moisture-vapor barrier in concrete slabs and foundations as well as waterproofing of waterscapes, pools, and ponds, including applications for zoos, amusement parks, and commercial landscapes.
• Other applications include truck cargo bed linings, coatings for tanks, tank linings, bridges, concrete floors and decks, and roofs.
• TERAMINE® A-136 has shelf life of 36 months.

Tallicin® 3000 by Pflaumer Brothers is a pot life extender for 2K polyurethane systems catalyzed with trimer type aliphatic polyisocyanates. It is added to the polyol component and acts to "block" the hydroxyl groups from reacting with the isocyanate, in many cases doubling the pot life of the system. It helps in extending the use requirements for trimer-type polyurethanes designed to meet today's needs for high solids and high performance.

• It acts through the process of evaporation with the dry times typically extended.
• It is compatible with polyester, polyether, polyacrylate resins and functions well in all systems.
• Promotes wet edge and open time in pigmented systems and can be used with organotin and tertiary amine cure promoters.
• Its applications include automotive, transport, coil, plastics, industrial and marine coatings.
• Recommended dosage level is 1.0% to 1.5% by weight of the polyol and its higher level may be required in systems having a relatively short pot life.
• Tallicin® 3000 has shelf life of 9 months from date of shipment.

Premium kaolin extender. The fine platy particles in ImerSilk™ give high opacity in decorative paints formulated below the critical pigment volume concentration (CPVC), while at the same time having only a minimal effect on coating gloss. This can permit up to 15% titanium dioxide saving in semi-gloss, silk and satin paints. Possesses low gloss reduction, additional thixotropic effect and good color properties. It reduces the formulation cost and is easy to disperse in water-based paints.

ADDITOL® VXW 6208 DISP (Old name: ADDITOL® VXW 6208) by allnex is a polymeric non-ionic dispersing additive for organic and inorganic pigments and extenders. The binder-free pigment pastes are suitable for water-borne alkyd- and acrylic paint formulations such as gloss and silk finish emulsion paints.

• It also enables the production of emission-free paints.
• It is recommended for radiation curing systems.
• The recommended dosage level is 3-10% for extenders or inorganic pigments and 15-50% for organic pigments.
• The shelf life of ADDITOL® VXW 6208 DISP is 730 days.

ADDITOL® VXW 6208/60 DISP (Old name: ADDITOL® VXW 6208/60) by allnex is a polymeric non-ionic dispersing and wetting additive for water-dilutable paint systems. It enhances the gloss and stabilizes the achieved degree of gloss. It decreases viscosity, especially in high-filled paint systems.

• It is used for the production of binder-free pigment pastes and for tinting base colors.
• It is suitable for solvent-free, solvent-borne and radiation-curing systems.
• The optimum quantity to be added to produce binder-free pigment pastes is 3-6% inorganic pigments and fillers and 30-35% organic pigments.
• Dosage as a wetting agent in two pack-epoxy-systems is 1-5% on pigment and filler.
• The shelf life of ADDITOL® VXW 6208/60 DISP is 730 days.

ADDITOL® XL 250 DISP (Old Name: ADDITOL® XL 250) by allnex is an anionic wetting agent and dispersion agent for pigments. It reduces dispersing time and enhances gloss and leveling. It is suitable for air drying and stoving solvent-borne paints and water-dilutable paint systems.

• It contains biobased material, and is tin and APEO-free.
• ADDITOL® XL 250 DISP provides strong color with organic pigments and prevents sedimentation of pigments and extenders.
• The recommended quantity to be added is 0.5-5% on pigment and extender.
• It has a shelf life of 730 days.

ADDITOL® XW 330 DISP (Old name: ADDITOL® XW 330) by allnex is a wetting and dispersing agent suitable for both inorganic pigments and extenders in aqueous systems where it can be used to stabilize emulsion paints. It is aqueous solution of ammonium salt of low molecular polyacrylic acid which prevents thickening.

• ADDITOL® XW 330 DISP is compatible with homopolymer and copolymer polyvinyl acetate, polyacrylic and styrene/acrylic copolymer dispersion.
• The recommended quantity to be added is 0.1-0.4%.
• It has a shelf life of 730 days.

ADDITOL® XL 255 N DISP (Old name: ADDITOL® XL 255 N) by allnex is an electroneutral wetting and dispersing agent. It reduces flocculation in common organic and inorganic pigments used in air drying systems. It provides increased color strength and gloss of coatings.

• It shortens the grinding time of pigments and prevents settling of pigments and extenders fairly.
• It can be used in solvent-borne and solvent-free coating systems diluted with white spirit.
• ADDITOL® XL 255 N DISP is used in wood preservative products, reactive alkyd/melamine resin stoving paints and two-component polyurethane coatings.
• The recommended usage level is 0.2-2.0% for inorganic and 1.0-5.0% for organic pigments.
• In the case of mixed pigments, the addition of 0.5-3% is recommended based on pigment.
• It has a shelf life of 730 days.
