Biesterfeld to distribute high-performance silica products Evonik’s in Austria and Switzerland

Biesterfeld is strengthening its long-standing partnership with Evonik. From January 1, 2026, Biesterfeld will take over the distribution of the high-performance silica products ACEMATT®, AEROSIL®, AERODISP®, AEROXIDE®, SIPERNAT®, SPHERILEX® and TEGO® Powder Aid in Austria and Switzerland for paint and coating applications.

Strategic market expansion of liquid additives in DACH and Eastern European region
This expansion is based on the already established cooperation in the field of liquid additives in the DACH region and Eastern European as well as the silica business for the paint and coatings sector in Eastern Europe. This measure will further strengthen Biesterfeld's market position, particularly in Austria and Switzerland.
The hydrophobic, hydrophilic, and granulated raw materials are suitable for demanding and industrial applications. Evonik silica products - including ACEMATT®, AEROSIL®, and SIPERNAT - offer versatile functional solutions for the paint and coatings industry. The products are characterized by a defined particle size distribution and precise control of rheological properties.
ACEMATT® is used as a highly efficient matting agent that can be easily incorporated even at low shear forces. AEROSIL® and AERODISP® optimize rheology and improve anti-settling and anti-sagging properties in both solvent-based and water-based coatings. SIPERNAT® can be used as a functional filler or titanium dioxide extender, contributing to cost-effective formulations. SPHERILEX® products also increase the mechanical resistance and surface quality of paints and coatings. AEROXIDE® additives are used, among other things, in the electronics and coatings industry because their fine, pyrogenically produced metal oxides allow for uniform dispersion and improve the thermal and mechanical stability of demanding systems. TEGO® Powder Aid additives enhance pigment wetting and dispersion in powder coatings, reduce the risk of agglomeration, and contribute to uniform, stable processing during extrusion.
Wide range of applications and high efficiency
Silica products are not only indispensable in the coatings industry but also play a central role in the manufacture of technical powders, e.g., for moisture regulation in detergents. This broad product range, consisting of hydrophobic, hydrophilic, and granulated raw materials, is suitable for demanding and industrial applications. The high chemical stability and taste- and odor-neutral properties make these products indispensable for a wide range of formulations.
Biesterfeld will now also distribute silica products in Austria and Switzerland, thereby covering Evonik's entire coating additives portfolio.
