Coating ingredients for EIFS (Exterior Insulation & Finishing Systems)

Crilat 4825 by Vinavil is a pure acrylic copolymer water-based dispersion. It is APEO-, formaldehyde- and ammonia-free grade. It is non-yellowing, UV crosslinkable and offers excellent elasticity and very good flexibility at low temperatures. It delivers superior waterproofing with very low water absorption.

• It provides excellent crack-bridging protection and good dirt pick-up resistance.
• Crilat 4825 ensures high UV and weathering resistance (benzophenone-free).
• It enables easy formulation and high performance at optimized cost.
• It is compatible with common pigment and extender packages.
• It is suitable for EIFS, high-rise facades, elastomeric wall and exterior masonry coatings.

Epotec® YDH 184 distributed by DKSH is an epoxy resin based on diglycidyl ester of hexahydrophthalic anhydride. It gives better non-yellowing characteristics and chalking resistance. It offers good UV light and weather resistance. It can also be cured with anhydride curing agents at high temperatures.

• It has low VOC and solvent-free formulations.
• The applications include coatings for outdoor application on metal, wood and concrete surface, high solids coatings including baking finishes and for potting and insulating compound coatings.
• It has a shelf life of 2 years.
• Epotec® YDH 184 is available in Canada.

Vinavil EVA 04 by Vinavil is a water dispersion of a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer. It is free from plasticizers, coalescing agents and alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO-free). It shows low water absorption and high alkali resistance.

• It has a pseudo-plastic behavior that gives good workability to the paints based on it.
• It gives a low film-forming temperature, even without coalescing agents.
It is compatible with additives and fillers commonly used in paints preparations.
• Recommended in particular for exterior insulation finish system (EIFS).
• It is also used for interior water-based paints and wall textured coatings.
• Vinavil EVA 04 has a shelf life of 6 months.

Bentone® OC by Elementis is a cost-effective, untreated hectorite clay-based rheology modifier with a defined particle size. It improves ease of application and surface smoothness, increases sag resistance and softness. It is stable against bacteria and enzymes.

• It decreases pumping pressure, stickiness on tools and avoids sedimentation & bleeding.
• It is suitable for thickening and control of workability.
• Bentone® OC is used in exterior insulation, finishing systems, ceramic coatings and inks.
• The recommended dosage is 0.1-0.3%.
• It has a shelf life of 4 years from the date of manufacture.

DOW™ Latex Powder (DLP) 212 distributed by DKSH is a free-flowing, white, re-dispersible polymer powder obtained by spray drying an aqueous vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer dispersion. It offers ease of transportation, handling and storage. It improves workability, adhesive- and flexural strength.

• It enhances abrasion resistance and provides excellent impact resistance.
• It is used in construction industry to improve the key properties of cement- and gypsum-based formulations.
• DOW™ Latex Powder (DLP) 212 is suitable for self-leveling flooring compounds, gypsum joint fillers, renders and thermal insulation systems (EIFS and cementitious base coats).
• It has a shelf life of 6 months and is available in Canada.

Ravemul® T37 by Vinavil is a water-based dispersion of a terpolymer of vinyl acetate with versatic acid esters. It is APEO-free and is compatible with commonly used fillers, pigments & additives in coatings and building applications. It exhibits low water absorption, high hydrophobicity, excellent storage stability and dimensional stability.

• It offers excellent resistance to chemical, weather, water and alkali.
• It is used in water-borne paints, textured coatings for interior/exterior, lime paints, fire retardants and intumescent paints.
• It could be used as an additive for cement-based conglomerates like repair mortars, construction joints, protective & coating grout, thermal insulation and finish system (EIFS).
• Ravemul® T37 has a shelf life of 6 months.

Vinavil E06 PA by Vinavil is a very versatile vinyl acetate-ethylene re-dispersible powder. It is characterized by high flexibility even at low temperatures and by a good alkali resistance. It improves substrate adhesion flexural strength and freeze-thaw resistance. It also improves water and mechanical resistance of end products. It provides high levels of performance in cement and gypsum-based application as well as in non-hydraulic products. Vinavil E06 PA can be used in plaster wall textured coatings and exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS). It has a shelf life of 6 months.

Vinavil 5706 by Vinavil is a styrene acrylic elastomeric copolymer emulsion with high solid content. It improves water resistance, flexibility and adhesion to various substrates. It can be formulated for the EIFS system and adheres well on polystyrene insulation boards. It provides clear and slightly tacky films. Vinavil 5706 is designed for indoor/outdoor wall paints & plasters, flexible coating, waterproofing membranes and wood coating & primers. The shelf life is 12 months.

Acronal® ECO 6716 by BASF is an aqueous dispersion of a styrene-acrylic copolymer with a faint odor and medium viscosity. It offers excellent pigment-binding power, broad formulation flexibility, and an exceptional cost-performance ratio. It provides outstanding resistance to saponification and alkaline conditions, while maintaining low VOC content and being manufactured without added ammonia. Acronal® ECO 6716 is widely used in architectural coatings, textured finishes, EIFS, interior paints, and primers.

Attagel® 50 by BASF is an inert powdered gelling grade of attapulgite clay. It acts as a rheology modifier. It is finely pulverized to effectively form colloidal gels in ionic and non-ionic aqueous solutions to provide thixotropic thickening and suspension.

• Attagel® 50 is recommended for paint and coatings applications where sag resistance, spatter control and syneresis control are required.
• It can impart thickening and suspension when dispersed with an appropriate surfactant in most organic liquid systems.
• Suggested applications include architectural coatings, EIFS and automotive refinishing.
