Nonionic hydroxypropylmethylcellulose surface-treated with a little glyoxal. Used as rheology modifier in gypsum-based adhesives and joint compounds for gypsum board. The aqueous solution functions as a protective colloid agent, emulsion stabilizer, foam stabilizer, and dispersant.
