Supplied byShin-Etsu- Last Updated on Feb 17, 2023

KBM 573 by Shin-Etsu is N-Phenyl-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. Acts as coupling agent. The individual molecules of silane coupling agent contain two types of reactive functional groups that are amino group and alkoxy group characterized by different reactivity thus bonding with both organic and inorganic materials. It has applications in encapsulates.
  • It improves mechanical strength, moisture, chemical resistance, and electrical properties.
  • It acts as a sort of intermediary which bonds organic materials to inorganic materials.
  • KBM 573 is extensively used in adhesives to improve adhesion.
