The individual molecules of silane coupling agent contain two types of reactive functional groups that are epoxy group and alkoxy group characterized by different reactivity thus bonding with both organic and inorganic materials. It acts as a sort of intermediary which bonds organic materials to inorganic materials. It improves desirable qualities such as mechanical strength, moisture or chemical resistance, electrical properties, etc. It is extensively used in adhesives to improve adhesion.
