Chemguard S-500 by Chemguard is a highly efficient short-chain perfluoro-based amphoteric fluorosurfactant. Provides surface tensions as low as 15 dynes/cm in water at very low concentrations. Has excellent dynamic surface tension properties, allowing for rapid attainment of low equilibrium surface tensions. It is a dilute solution composed of 27% active fluorosurfactant in a water, solvent miscible diluent and short chain C-6 perfluoro telomere. Imparts excellent wetting, spreading, levelling and flow control properties on various types of water-based as well as solvent-based systems. Its amphoteric nature allows it to be unsusceptible to the differences in pH, which provides excellent hard water resistance. Chemguard S-500 is chemically more stable than typical hydrocarbon surfactants, particularly in the presence of acids, alkalies or heat. Typical uses include adhesives and caulks. Chemguard S-500 recommended application rates are 0.05% to 0.4% depending upon the formulation makeup.
