Provides surface tensions as low as 20 dynes/cm in water at low concentrations and is also surface active in many solvents. Composed of short chain C-6 perfluoro telomer. Has excellent dynamic surface tension properties, allowing rapid attainment of low equilibrium surface tensions. It is chemically more stable than typical hydrocarbon surfactants, particularly in the presence of acids, alkalies or heat. It can improve wetting, leveling and reduces defects such as cratering and orange peel. Chemguard S-550-100 is effective at low concentrations of 50-1000 ppm and in both high and low pH. Typical uses include adhesives and caulks. Chemguard S-550-100 recommended application rates are 0.05% to 0.3% depending upon the formulation makeup.
Capstone® Fluorosurfactant FS-31
by Chemours
Capstone® Fluorosurfactant FS-31 by Chemours is a non-ionic fluorosurfactant. It provides exceptionally low surface tension in aqueous or solvent-based products, enabling better wetting, spreading, leveling, and other beneficial properties. It is VOC- & APEO-free, non-flammable and is compatible with additives and resins of any ionic class. Even at very low concentrations, it can deliver tremendous wetting power. It is stable in acidic, basic, brine and hard water environments, making it easy to formulate into a variety of systems, based on short chain molecules that cannot break down to PFOA in the environment. Effective as an additive for adhesives. Capstone® Fluorosurfactant FS-31 has a shelf life of 5 years.
