Defoamers / Anti-foaming Agents for Adhesives and Sealants

DAPRO® PD 829 by Elementis is a powdered defoamer for preventing air entrainment in dry wall joint compounds and other dry mixes. It is particularly useful with vinyl and acrylic binder systems where dry defoamers are needed. It is recommended for adhesives and sealant.

• It complies with TSCA, EINECS, EU REACH, DSL, ENCS, PICCS, KECL, IECSC, AICS, NZIoC, and NECI.
• Recommended dosage level of DAPRO® PD 829 is 0.3 to 1.0% of total weight.
• It has a shelf life of 2 years.

DAPRO® PD 827 by Elementis is a powder antifoam agent for removing entrained air in powder applications. It is effective in the defoaming of drywall joint compounds and other dry mixes. It is recommended for adhesive and sealant.

• Recommended dosage level of DAPRO® PD 827 is 0.3 to 1.0% of total weight.
• It has a shelf life of 2 years.

DAPRO® PD 801 W by Elementis is a powdered defoamer suitable for drywall joint compounds and other cement mixes. It is recommended for adhesives and sealant.

• It complies with TSCA, EINECS, EU REACH, DSL, ENCS, PICCS, KECL, IECSC, AICS, NZIoC, and NECI.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.3 to 1.0% of total weight.
• DAPRO® PD 801 W has a shelf life of 2 years.

TEGO® Antifoam 2290 by Evonik is a self-emulsifying, APEO-free organic antifoam concentrate. It is free of silicone and does not contain any silica. It is used in formulation and application of polymer dispersions/latices such as adhesives based on acrylates or PVAc. High shear forces on the diluted product should be avoided.

• It process aid for water-based polymerization of dispersions, thermoplastics and elastomers (e.g. de-monomerisation of SBR or NBR emulsions, handling of acrylates).
• Recommended dosage may vary from 0.005-0.2%.
• TEGO® Antifoam 2290 has a shelf life of 12 months.

Surfynol® AS 5080 by Evonik is a 100% active non-ionic organic super wetter and defoamer. It is based on patented gemini surfactant technology. It is a low viscosity, easy-to handle liquid that contains no added silicones, siloxanes, fluorosurfactants, alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) or hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).

• It is an excellent alternative for difficult-to-wet substrates requiring good flow and leveling under diverse application conditions.
• It provides improved formulation compatibility and ease of incorporation.
• It has the ability to reduce both equilibrium and dynamic surface tension.
• It can deliver exceptional performance in a wide variety of water-based applications.
• Surfynol® AS 5080 is used in pigment dispersion, flexible food packaging adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesives.
• The recommended usage is between 0.1 and 1.0% of total formulation weight.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.

Surfynol® AS 5040 by Evonik is a non-ionic, non-foaming dynamic wetting agent. It is suitable for waterborne adhesives applications. It is a 100% active, easy-to handle liquid that contains no added solvents, siloxanes, silicones, fluorosurfactants, alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) or hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). It provides surface tension reduction and enhances rapid penetration of absorbent substrates. It enables wetting of low-energy and contaminated substrates. Surfynol® AS 5040 is used in flexible food packaging adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesives. Its recommended usage is between 0.1 and 2.0% of total formulation weight. It complies with food contact regulations of US, Europe and Asia. It has a shelf life of 60 months.

TEGOPREN® 5890 by Evonik is an organo-modified siloxane. It is a solvent-free, easy to handle liquid, acts as an anti-foaming and wetting agent. It is highly efficient in fighting dry foam and shows an outstanding dispersibility and dilution stability. It improves the dewatering of S-PVC after stripping. It is recommended for the production of transfer labels and tapes or for laminating processes as well as for the production of dispersions like reaction, blow down and stripping.

• It is compatible with cellulose, polyvinyl alcohols, PVC suspension, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVAc) and polyvinyl acetate (PVAc).
• TEGOPREN® 5890 is used in water-based polymerization processes and adhesives.
• The recommended dosage may vary between 0.01 to 1.0%.
• It has a shelf life of 12 months.

Antifoams SAF-129FG by Akrochem is a dimethylsiloxane fluid. Used as an antifoam in food applications. Specifically formulated to prevent foams from forming and keeps the system non-foaming with a quick knock-down reaction. Contains a freeze/thaw stability of 4 cycles minimum. Formulated to be use as received or diluted to specific concentrations before application.

FutureSol® DBM by FutureFuel Chemical Company acts as a solvent, chain transfer reagent and anti-foam agent. It is a high purity monomer with a fruity aroma. It is an excellent choice for replacing chlorinated solvents in formulated cleaning applications. FutureSol® DBM is suitable for adhesive applications.
