Associative Rheology Modifiers

Based on 70 products - Last update on the Jul 8, 2025

Associative rheology modifiers, also called associative thickeners, appear as white to off-white powders or milky liquids that transform flow behavior in water-based adhesive systems. Key features include excellent sag resistance, improved leveling, enhanced spatter resistance, and stability under varying shear conditions without significantly impacting other adhesive properties. They're essential in water-based construction adhesives, ceiling tile adhesives, and sprayable formulations.

Major types include hydrophobically modified ethoxylated urethanes (HEUR) offering excellent efficiency and ease of incorporation, hydrophobically modified alkali-soluble emulsions (HASE) providing excellent cost-performance balance, and specialty cellulosic derivatives combining thickening with stabilization.
