Adhesive ingredients for Battery Cover Sealing & Assembly

Oppanol® N PLUS by BASF is a polyisobutene-based binder for next-generation of electric vehicle (EV) batteries. It is designed for use in cathodes, anodes and electrolytes, where it reliably holds individual components together while keeping them effectively separated.

• It possesses high elasticity and extensibility to compensate for mechanical stress generated during charging and discharging.
• It is chemically inert, helps reduce unwanted side reactions, and supports battery stability and longer service life.
• Oppanol® N PLUS exhibits very narrow product specifications and consistent quality, enabling reduced process variability, lower reformulation requirements, decreased quality control efforts, and faster and stable process adjustments.

Aradur® 9664-1 by Huntsman is an aromatic amine based curing agent. It is micropulverised, aero grade 4,4'-diaminodiphenylsulfone.

• Exhibits excellent thermal stability and high temperature properties with outstanding chemical resistance.
• Aradur® 9664-1 is used in exterior- & interior vehicle (OEM), structural assembly, battery cover sealing & battery assembly, cable sealing, motor and magnet bonding, potting and encapsulating assembly.
• Other application includes thermally & electrically conductive household appliance assembly, sporting goods, medical device assembly, aircraft & aerospace, marine, rail, recreational vehicle, truck, sport & leisure adhesive applications.

Araldite® GY 282 by Huntsman is an unmodified epoxy resin based on bisphenol-F with low viscosity. It is an aero grade.

• Araldite® GY 282 is used in exterior vehicle (OEM), interior vehicle (OEM), vehicle assembly (OEM), structural assembly, battery cover sealing & battery assembly, cable sealing, motor and magnet bonding, potting and encapsulating, assembly.
• Other suggested applications are thermally & electrically conductive, household appliance assembly, sporting goods, marine, rail, recreational vehicle, truck, sport & leisure and wind.

Araldite® PY 306 by Huntsman is a distilled, very low viscosity, unmodified epoxy resin based on bisphenol-F. It is an aero grade.

• Araldite® PY 306 is used in exterior vehicle (OEM), interior vehicle (OEM), vehicle assembly (OEM), structural assembly, battery cover sealing & battery assembly.
• It is also used in cable sealing, motor and magnet bonding, potting and encapsulating, assembly, thermally & electrically conductive, household appliance assembly, aircraft & aerospace, sporting goods, marine, rail, recreational vehicle, truck, sport & leisure and wind for adhesive applications.

ORTEGOL® DA 801 by Evonik is a tailored dispersant for polyurethane based thermal interface materials. It has an excellent reduction of viscosity of PU formulations containing high loading of thermally conductive fillers. It has high affinity to aluminum-based fillers and hence ideally suited to disperse aluminum trihydroxide or aluminum oxide ORTEGOL® DA 801 has no impact on the reactivity of PU-based adhesives. It can be more easily applied between the cooling plate and battery modules which minimize the risk of defects in the thermal interface material such as holes or inadequate surface coverage. It also helps to break down larger filler agglomerates and allows a more even distribution of the filler which contributes to an improve thermal conductivity. It is essentially free of reactive hydroxyl (OH) groups. It does not interact with standard PU catalysts, ensuring that it has no adverse impact on the reactivity and curing behavior of PU-based adhesives.

ORTEGOL® AP 100 by Evonik is an adhesion promoter ideally suited to use in 2K PU systems. It provides excellent adhesion to metal, plastic surfaces and works well in both foamed and compact PU systems. It is ideally suited to use in EV battery potting applications. The technical requirements for such potting materials typically include efficient filling, high adhesion, low density, high mechanical stabilization and elastic properties. ORTEGOL® AP 100 can be formulated into the polyol component or dosed as a separate component prior to application and also it is long-term stable and does not adversely affect the shelf life of the formulation.

Araldite® PY 302-2 by Huntsman is a non-crystallizing, unmodified epoxy resin based on bisphenol-A/F.

• Used in exterior vehicle (OEM), interior vehicle (OEM), vehicle assembly (OEM), structural assembly, battery cover sealing & battery assembly, cable sealing, motor and magnet bonding.
• Araldite® PY 302-2 is also used in potting & encapsulating, thermally & electrically conductive, household appliance assembly, sporting goods, aircraft and aerospace, marine, rail, recreational vehicle, truck, sport & leisure and wind industry.

Matrimid® 5218 by Huntsman is a soluble thermoplastic polyimide powder. It possesses very high glass transition temperature. It offers excellent adhesion on various substrates and thermal performance.

• It exhibits excellent high temperature properties for use in structural composites and adhesives.
• It is soluble in a variety of common solvents (i.e. CH2Cl2, CHCl3, THF, DMAC, DMF, NMP).
• Matrimid® 5218 is used in exterior vehicle (OEM), interior vehicle (OEM), vehicle assembly (OEM), battery cover sealing & battery assembly, cable sealing, motor & magnet bonding, potting & encapsulating, assembly, thermally & electrically conductive, household appliance assembly, sporting goods, medical device assembly, aircraft and aerospace, marine, rail, recreational vehicle, truck, sport and leisure.

Matrimid® 2292 by Huntsman is a diallyl ether of bisphenol-A based, low-viscosity resin. It is used as a reactive diluent with epoxy, bismaleimide and polyimides.

• It exhibits excellent mechanical properties at ambient or elevated temperatures and good toughness.
• It is an excellent component for RTM bismaleimide systems.
• It provides reactivity similar to the diallyl bisphenol A.
• Its applications include high performance structural adhesives.
• Matrimid® 2292 is used in exterior vehicle (OEM), interior vehicle (OEM), vehicle assembly (OEM),battery cover sealing & battery assembly, cable sealing, motor and magnet bonding, potting and encapsulating, assembly, thermally & electrically conductive, household appliance assembly, sporting goods, medical device assembly, aircraft & aerospace, marine, rail, recreational vehicle, truck, sport & leisure and wind in adhesive applications.

Aradur® 33641 by Huntsman is a BzOH-free hardener. It is a formulated fast cure amine and recommended to enhance chemical resistance. Exhibits good surface properties without sensitivity to atmospheric humidity. It is used in exterior vehicle (OEM), interior vehicle (OEM), vehicle assembly (OEM), battery cover sealing & battery assembly, cable sealing, motor and magnet bonding, potting and encapsulating, assembly, thermally & electrically conductive, household appliance assembly, sporting goods, medical device assembly, aircraft & aerospace, marine, rail, recreational vehicle, truck, sport & leisure and wind in adhesive applications. Aradur® 33641 complies with German KTW regulations (list 1) for potable water and food contact (EU). It has a shelf life of at least 1 year.
