It offers good resistance to water and fire. It is non-combustible, non-explosive, non-volatile, non-toxic and soluble in most organic solvents, insoluble in water and ethanol. It gets decomposed at 120°C and releases hydrogen chloride gas. It can also be used in the impregnation of fabric, paper and canvas.
