It is used as a precursor to polymer additive salts. FutureChem® SIPA Hydrate by FutureFuel Chemical Company is a water-soluble monomer for waterborne polyesters and nylon fibers. It is an extremely strong sulfonic acid due to the electron withdrawing nature of the two carboxylic acid moieties. FutureChem® SIPA Hydrate is also used as an acid catalyst and a precursor to polymer additive salts.
