Covestro has announced an investment program for MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) intended, according to the company, to expand its position in the global MDI market and strengthen long-term supply security for customers worldwide. 

The program includes preparations for construction of a new 660-kiloton annual MDI production plant at Covestro's integrated site in Shanghai, China, with commissioning planned for the end of this decade.
