Behenyl Methacrylate 1822 (BEMA 1822) by BASF is a methacrylate monomer. It is a mixture of C<sub>18</sub>, C<sub>20</sub> and C<sub>22</sub> methacrylates. It is water-insoluble, low volatile, monofunctional monomer with a long, hydrophobic side chain. It forms homopolymers and copolymers. Behenyl Methacrylate 1822 (BEMA 1822) is a useful feedstock for chemical synthesis because it readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds.
