Butanediol. Acts as a plasticizer. It undergoes all typical reactions with alcohols. Polymers produced from butanediol exhibit greater hydrophobicity, crystallinity, strength, hydrolysis resistance and better low temperature flexibility than those produced from ethylene glycol.
