Arichem STB-FR by AriChem is sodium trichlorobenzenesulfonate. It is an excellent economic flame retardant for opaque PC compounds. It can be used to produce and utilize it in concentrate form to improve dispersion into the PC matrix. It is a white crystalline powder with no characteristic odor. It provides FR performance at fractional loading levels or at less than 1% by weight in the PC formulation for some specific FR formulations. Arichem STB-FR at 0.2% loading can reduce by 75% the amount of brominated FR required for UL flammability performance. It meets the requirements of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 94 V0 flame retardant at a specimen thickness of 3.2 mm (1/8").
Arichem HES-FR by AriChem is a non-halogen mixed salt of aromatic sulfonates. It provides extremely effective FR performance. It is also used to decrease the amount of phosphate ester needed to provide flammability performance in PC/ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) co-polymer formulations. It is used specifically for flame retarding polycarbonate (PC)/ABS and most effective in translucent and opaque PC/ABS but not intended for transparent PC. Arichem HES-FR active sulfonates content is much more than that of potassium perfluoro butyl sulfonate (KPBS) and other sulfonate FR products currently used in PC.
