CCPIB by United Initiators is poly (1,4-diisopropyl benzene). Also known as polycumyl. It acts as an initiator (radical source) in combination with brominated aliphatic hydrocarbons, e.g. HBCD (hexabromocyclododecane) for flame-proofing of polystyrene and polypropylene. It appears as a white fine flake with 360 g/mol of molar mass. when the polymer is involved in fire, thermally stable substances are required which do not decompose during polymerization or processing.
