PEPTON® 44

PEPTON® 44 by Thomas Swan is a peptizer. It is a blend of 50% dibenzamido diphenyl disulfide (DBD) synergistic activator and an inert carrier for improved dispersion. It increases the efficiency of open or internal mixer mastication of natural rubber and general purpose unsaturated synthetic elastomers, where reduction of viscosity is desirable.

• It catalytically promotes molecular chain scission during mastication, thereby reducing its time & power consumption and offering lower production costs & increased production capacity.
• It is effective in mastication at 70°C & above, and provides best performance at 150-160°C.
• It is ready to use with minimal filler and exhibits highest active content for rapid performance.
• Provides highest speed of action at the lowest addition rate and fast chemical chain scission during mastication.
• It contains least inert carrier or filler which helps in maintaining the integrity of the compound it is used in.
• It is free flowing and suitable for automatic weighing.
• Offers effective mastication with faster viscosity reduction utilizing less energy.
• It also provides higher process speeds in extrusion, calendaring and molding.
• It is non-toxic formulation and has no volatiles.
• It is available in a broad range of pack options including custom pre-weighed, low melt packs, accurate to +/- 1g.
• Prevents recombination of the chains of natural rubber following radical scission.
• Its peptizing action is inhibited by sulfur and the viscosity of compounded stocks is therefore stable on storage.
• Thomas Swan is the only European producer of the primary active ingredient DBD which is used in chemical peptisers.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.2-0.4 phr for natural rubber and synthetic polyisoprene and 1.5-3.0 phr for synthetic unsaturated elastomers.
