PEPTON® 22

PEPTON® 22 by Thomas Swan is 2,2'dibenzamido diphenyl disulphide-based peptizer. It is effective at temperatures in excess of 120°C and reduces mastication time and energy requirements, giving increased production capacity. It disperses readily at mixing temperatures.

• The peptizing action is inhibited by sulfur, so compounded rubbers undergo no further viscosity change on storage.

• Enables higher process speeds in extrusion, calendaring and molding.
• It is permitted under the American FDA regulations for use in rubbers coming into contact with foodstuffs.

• Acts as radical acceptor which removes free radicals formed during the initial mixing of the elastomer.

• It is suitable for mastication of natural rubber, polyisoprene, SBR and nitrile rubbers.
• It can be used in internal mixers due to its high activation temperature and pre-dispersions or internal formulations.
• Thomas Swan is the only European producer of the primary active ingredient DBD which is used in chemical peptisers.
• Its recommended dosage level is 0 to 0.5 phr in natural rubber and synthetic polyisoprene and 1 to 3.0 phr in synthetic unsaturated elastomers.
