Dabco® LK-221 by Evonik is a unique organic surfactant for microcellular and rigid foam formulations. Provides a smooth surface and excellent adhesion. Can be used as a replacement or co-surfactant for silicone-based surfactants. Offers improved emulsification of 1,4 butanediol (BDO) in typical shoe sole formulations.
- Possesses excellent dimensional stability, degassing and strength properties.
- It is also recommended for use in low-density rigid foams where reliable cell stabilization is essential.
- It can be used in a variety of rigid foam applications, including free-rise bunstock foam; laminated board stock foam; low-density, fire retardant pour-in-place foam and spray foam.
- Is effective at minimizing pinholes and the "orange peel" effect typically observed with the use of silicone-based surfactants in spray foam applications.
- In rigid bunstock foams, Dabco® LK-221 also allows for the escape of entrapped air without affecting final stabilization.
