Hexafluoroisobutylene

Supplied byDuPont- Last Updated on Feb 7, 2021

Hexafluoroisobutylene by DuPont is a colorless, pressurized, 3,3,3-trifluoro-2(trifluoromethyl)-1-propene. When copolymerized with vinylidene fluoride, it produces polymers with excellent thermal, chemical and mechanical properties. It exhibits improved surface tension over Hexafluoropropylene (HFP) due to its branched structure. It can be readily polymerized with vinylidene fluoride and then cured using an agent such as Bisphenol AF. Hexafluoroisobutylene is used in fluoropolymers and other specialty fluorochemicals.
