PARALOID™ K-400 Acrylic Processing Aid by Dow is a high molecular weight acrylic processing aid. It improves the quality and processability of cellular vinyl products. It increases interparticle friction during processing and aids in the breakdown of the vinyl grains. It accelerates the fusion process, but the necessary melt elasticity exists to trap the evolving gas and prevent the bubbles from coalescing. Modifying vinyl foam formulations with acrylic copolymers provides reduced foam density, improved surface quality, good cell uniformity and functional impact strength. PARALOID™ K-400 Acrylic Processing Aid increases processing flexibility and improves efficiency. It is effective in free foam, inward-foaming or coextrusion processes. It provides excellent melt strength for luxury vinyl tile (LVT) base layer processing. This product offers very broad processing window acrylic processing aid for rigid foamed PVC extrusions and promotes fusion. Recommended for foam and non-foam PVC extrusion applications, basic foam extrusion, foam profiles and non-foam profile extrusion formulations for good dimension consistency and surface appearance. Also, used in calendered LVT base layers for higher melt strength for increased output rates and ability to allow higher line tension.
